New to Christianity
The word "Christian has lost much of its meaning in our culture. It means "Christ in one. As you communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ, this is what God expects of a Christian:
He expects us to GROW
He expects is to GO
He expects us to GLOW
He expects us to SOW
He expects us to SHOW
He expects us to KNOW
A Changed Person in thought and action and converted from the old to something new.
A Committed Person, one who has made a definite choice for God in Jesus Christ, a definite commitment and a dedication to the Kingdom of God.
A Challenged Person, challenged to serve others, challenged to "save others and challenged to witness.
Come join us to Praise God and enriching our faith in Jesus Christ!
Salvation is accomplished by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-10). But salvation is more than a formula and more than "asking Jesus into my heart. We consider the cost and we jump full in or we don't jump at all. We encourage you to speak to Pastor Jon for more information on God's grace and your salvation through Jesus Christ.
Join Us at Bible Study
The Bible equips us to serve God (2 Timothy 3:17; Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12). It helps us know how to be saved from our sin and its ultimate consequence (2 Timothy 3:15). Meditating on God's Word and obeying its teachings will bring success in life (Joshua 1:8; James 1:25). God's Word helps us see sin in our lives and helps us get rid of it (Psalm 119:9; 11). It gives us guidance in life, making us wiser than our teachers (Psalm 32:8; 119:99; Proverbs 1:6). The Bible keeps us from wasting years of our lives on that which does not matter and will not last (Matthew 7:24-27).
Studying the bible develops an appetite for God's word and allows for spiritual growth. By studying His word we will be able to give reasons and to prove by the Word to the lost why Christ is our hope. The word of God will set you free, so discover His truth in the word and enjoy the freedom and peace it brings. John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Join us in fellowship and study on Wednesday mornings 10am at the Oquawka United Methodist Church and Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm at the Biggsville United Methodist Church.
So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
2 Samuel 2:5 (KJV)
And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed [be] ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, [even] unto Saul, and have buried him.
