Invitation

We are honored that you are visiting our web site.  Being a religious organization, we are always striving to find new ways to get our message out to members of the congregations and the communities.  This web site allows us to reach people we may never have been able to contact before.

Please use this site to access the information you need about the church and as a resource for broadening your faith in Jesus and God.  We look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you might have.

An Invitation to Join One of our Churches

¢ If you have never been a member of any church, you can join formally through baptism, and become a member by a "Profession of Faith.

¢ If you have been an active member at another Methodist church or a church of another denomination, you can join by a "Transfer of Membership.

¢ If you have professed your faith and been a member of another church of any denomination, but have not been active for a while, you can become a member  by a "Re-Affirmation of Faith.

¢ If you wish to retain your membership in a church of another denomination, you can join as an Associate Member. (Students who belong to a church in their home town are invited to take advantage of the Affiliate or Associate options.)

Please indicate your desire to join by checking the appropriate items on the visitor's sheet in the registration booklet located in the pews or by contacting Pastor Jon.

New to Christianity

The word "Christian has lost much of its meaning in our culture. It means "Christ in one. As you communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ, this is what God expects of a Christian:

He expects us to GROW

He expects is to GO

He expects us to GLOW

He expects us to SOW

He expects us to SHOW

He expects us to KNOW

A Changed Person in thought and action and converted from the old to something new.

A Committed Person, one who has made a definite choice for God in Jesus Christ, a definite commitment and a dedication to the Kingdom of God.

A Challenged Person, challenged to serve others, challenged to "save others and challenged to witness.

Come join us to Praise God and enriching our faith in Jesus Christ!

Seeking Salvation

Salvation is accomplished by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-10). But salvation is more than a formula and more than "asking Jesus into my heart. We consider the cost and we jump full in or we don't jump at all.  We encourage you to speak to Pastor Jon for more information on God's grace and your salvation through Jesus Christ.

Join Us at Bible Study

The Bible equips us to serve God (2 Timothy 3:17; Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12). It helps us know how to be saved from our sin and its ultimate consequence (2 Timothy 3:15). Meditating on God's Word and obeying its teachings will bring success in life (Joshua 1:8; James 1:25). God's Word helps us see sin in our lives and helps us get rid of it (Psalm 119:9; 11). It gives us guidance in life, making us wiser than our teachers (Psalm 32:8; 119:99; Proverbs 1:6). The Bible keeps us from wasting years of our lives on that which does not matter and will not last (Matthew 7:24-27).

Studying the bible develops an appetite for God's word and allows for spiritual growth. By studying His word we will be able to give reasons and to prove by the Word to the lost why Christ is our hope. The word of God will set you free, so discover His truth in the word and enjoy the freedom and peace it brings. John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Join us in fellowship and study on Wednesday mornings 10am at the Oquawka United Methodist Church and Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm at the Biggsville United Methodist Church.

The High Priest of a New Covenant

Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.

Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
